The President Invites Relatives of Attacked Military Members to the White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Mourners gathered over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to aid public safety in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers desired. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the principal of her former high school, informed the Associated Press. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to assist people.”

Service details for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Policy Changes

Law enforcement have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and cease granting entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the Associated Press.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Morrisey said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she planned to visit Wolfe’s family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” Morrisey informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
