Soccer Expert Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game victorious run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."
The analyst is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, readers and a range of guests.
In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.
Soccer and Parenting Experiences
Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a player.
"{I recently played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."
The singer and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer side," he said.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a period too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be quite close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.
It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they do look competitive again.
The Hammers' sole on the road victory this season came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was previously that team's coach.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to go with the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four matches.
A family member told me to get Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much success on the travel this term, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.
They have have plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.
But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.
Looking at Fulham's home record, the sole side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three much-needed points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
The guest's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a poor run... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
