Shock as Beloved South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country struggling with persistent crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old presenter was confronted by three suspects, one of whom began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The reason behind the shooting remains unclear and no one has been arrested are in custody, police said.
How It Happened
Authorities said that Stock was ambushed as he was leaving a premises close to the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the site supervising the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, it was reported.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement confirmed.
CCTV footage showed a individual with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what appeared to be a guard's attire shooting on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was hit but collapsed a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the assault.
Crucial forensic evidence, like cartridges, were recovered from the location.

Police have appealed anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the attack, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to determine their location," remarked an authority figure.

His family member, a close relative, stated the relatives are devastated to process his death.
"Words fail me. I don't have words," she stated.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a devastating blow."
