The rugby star gained 20 international appearances for New Zealand before switching representation to the Samoan team.

Australian rugby league's administration has declared that athletes who join the “rebel” R360 competition will be barred for a decade.

R360, scheduled to begin in 2026, is hoping to draw players from union and league with hefty contracts and a reduced game calendar.

Top rugby league athletes have allegedly been contacted by the new league, which will include six to eight men's sides and women's teams located in major cities worldwide.

The Samoan the player, who represents his NRL club in the league, has said he has had negotiations involving R360.

Ryan Papenhuyzen, Lomax, Payne Haas and Jye Gray are also believed to be thinking about signing the rebel league.

Eight major rugby union nations, such as Australia, recently declared a prohibition on players joining R360 appearing in test matches.

“We have consulted our teams and we've taken firm action,” commented ARLC chief V'Landys.

“Unfortunately, there will continually be groups that attempt to hijack our code for monetary profit.

“They avoid funding in talent pipelines or the advancement of players. They only leverage the dedication of others, endangering athletes of economic hardship while gaining personally.

“Essentially, they are, counterfeiting a code.”

R360 is established by ex-England star Tindall and backed by commercial backers.

Following the possible rugby union prohibitions were declared recently, it said: “We want to work in partnership as integrated into the international rugby schedule.

“The event is arranged with tailored timetables for men's and women's teams and we will release all players for global fixtures, as included in their agreements.”

The new league will request authorization for its proposals from World Rugby, rugby union's governing body, at its council meeting in the coming year.
