Citizens have gathered throughout the country to mark the second anniversary since the Hamas-initiated attack on that fateful day in October 2023, as negotiations advanced in the neighboring country over an end to the hostilities in the Gaza Strip.

The incident saw more than 1,200 people killed and 251 others taken away to Gaza as captives. It was the most deadliest day for Jewish people since the World War II.

Israel answered by beginning a armed campaign in Gaza which has killed in excess of 67,000 people, based on figures from the area's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its statistics are regarded as reliable by the UN and other international bodies.

"Our bloodthirsty opponents have caused great damage, but they have not broken us," the leader remarked on that day.

He also vowed to "accomplish all the aims of the war: the return of all the abducted, the elimination of the Hamas administration and the promise that Gaza will never again pose a threat to Israel".

Memorial Events Across Israel

The government authorities delayed official remembrance events until 16 October - after the end of the festive season - but gatherings still were held throughout the country on that day.

A commemorative event for the relatives of people who lost their lives in the Hamas incident was organized in Tel Aviv. Organized by the families themselves, it was televised throughout Israeli TV networks.

A period earlier, a minute's silence was respected across the country.

Peace Meetings in Egypt

At the same time, Israeli and Hamas representatives convened in the North African Red Sea resort of the Egyptian city for a continuing round of third-party negotiations to examine the conditions of the agreement.

A senior representative knowledgeable about the negotiations indicated that an evening round of negotiations started at 19:00 Cairo time.

The representative explained the day's discussions concluded without significant progress, because of disagreements over the proposed Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas demands to guarantee Israel does not resume fighting after the opening period of the deal.

He added that the discussions are "tough and have still not achieve any significant progress," but pointed out that facilitators are striving to narrow the disparities between the both parties.

Essential Matters in Talks

  • A lasting truce
  • The swap of the hostages still held by Hamas for detainees from Gaza
  • The removal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Measures for relief supplies distribution
  • After-conflict management of the area

Civilian Reaction

In Tel Aviv's public square earlier, young a woman - whose family member lived through the assault on the Nova music festival, where 378 people were lost their lives and many more were abducted by Hamas gunmen - shared: "No location seems like home anymore and until each abducted person are released no one will have peace of mind."

"After we see everybody home once more, we can relax anew. Then we can start to heal," she concluded.

Near the leader's official dwelling in the capital, people assembled to express their solidarity for the families of the hostages. Israel states 48 remain in detention in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are considered to be living.

Activist a participant stated: "We need do every compromise needed for the hostages to come back home. But we really want promises that we will be safe."

Opinion polls now consistently show that about 70% of Israeli citizens desire the conflict to conclude in exchange for the liberation of the captives.

Gaza Conditions

At the site of Nova festival, those paying respects came together to honor the dead.

From that location, the sound of Israeli air strikes and explosions could be noticed just a brief space away in Gaza, where witnesses said the heavy Israeli bombardment carried on.

In the main city, attacks were noted in the morning of Tuesday in the western district, sector and zone neighbourhoods and in the eastern area of that sector, as well Shati refugee camp to the northwest.

"Once the evening comes, the anxiety comes with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a mother, whose teenage son was died by an Israeli air strike earlier, explained.

"We are fearful of the bombings. All the night we are resting together, embracing, especially my smallest child who places his face on me throughout the night."

"Constantly we look at the news to see what happened. And I'm worried that this truce will not be completed and that the war will come back to us."

Humanitarian Emergency

Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City said it had received the corpses of half dozen people by the midday, including a trio killed in an Israeli strike in the south part al-Sabra neighbourhood.

Another medical facility in the southern urban center of Khan Younis reported additional fatalities had been brought there. A person was lost his life by Israeli soldiers while looking for help to the southern area, medics said.

The region's health ministry reported twenty-five of the {territ
