Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Matchup With Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Astros claiming the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their maiden Fall Classic after 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the American League Championship Series.

Trailing by two runs, Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 win in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "This is such an incredible feeling."

Springer has now hit 23 total October home runs, placing him third all-time trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine anyone else anywhere that I'd choose in that situation besides Springer with his playoff prowess," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a World Series.

Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" in the wake of his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he continued.

Toronto's team won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
