Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for concerns to be asked about his future after a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from management,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted known failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with outcomes like these.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is removed, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
